Prototyping & Usability Testing

Interactive prototypes validated with real users before a single line of code is written.

Why You Should Prototype Before You Build

Development is expensive. Prototyping is cheap. An interactive prototype lets you test ideas, validate assumptions, and gather user feedback in days rather than months — at a fraction of the cost of building the real thing. The insights from a single round of usability testing can save weeks of development rework.

Our Prototyping and Testing Process

  1. Define test objectives — What questions do we need to answer? What assumptions are we testing?
  2. Build interactive prototype — We create clickable prototypes in Figma that simulate the real product experience, including navigation, interactions, and content.
  3. Recruit participants — We identify and recruit users who match your target audience profile.
  4. Run moderated sessions — We observe users attempting key tasks, noting where they succeed, struggle, or abandon.
  5. Analyse and synthesise — We compile findings into actionable insights with specific design recommendations.
  6. Iterate and retest — We update designs based on findings and run additional rounds as needed until confidence is high.

What's Included

  • Interactive prototypes for key user flows
  • Test script and task design
  • Participant recruitment (5-8 per round)
  • Moderated usability sessions (remote or in-person)
  • Session recordings and highlight reels
  • Findings report with prioritised recommendations
  • Design iterations based on test results

Frequently asked questions

with specific answers

  • Our interactive prototypes simulate real product behaviour — clickable navigation, form interactions, animations, and content. Users interact with them as if they were using the finished product. They are built in Figma and run in a web browser, so no installation is required.

  • We typically test with 5-8 users per round, per user segment. Research by Nielsen Norman Group shows that 5 users uncover approximately 85% of usability issues. For products with multiple distinct user types, we test each segment separately.

  • That is exactly why we test. If major issues are found, we redesign the affected areas and run another testing round to validate the fixes. It is far cheaper to discover and fix problems in a prototype than in a production codebase.

  • Yes. Remote moderated testing works well for most projects. We use video conferencing with screen sharing, which allows us to observe users in their natural environment and recruit participants regardless of location.
